We Miss you Grammy

So before heading to New York we had a post holiday visit from Grammy! Elliot knew Grammy was bringing  her a baby doll, so that's about all we heard about for the weeks leading up the visit.  So one of our first stops was to the toy store to get Elliot a baby doll.  Can I tell you how hard it is to find a baby doll that doesn't talk, pee, poop, burp, or make some other battery operated bodily function?  What happened to a good old plain doll who's eyes don't open and close, hair doesn't grow, nor does she drink her own bottle?  We searched high and low and finally landed on her very own Cabbage Patch Kid.    For those of you lucky enough to survive the 80's, the hunt for this doll was not the knock down drag out fight for the last one on the shelf nor was it the year you had to practically put your house up for collateral to get enough money to buy one from the scalper that was selling them on the black market.  No, there were plenty of dolls for Elliot to choose from and she settled on a very cute redhead with "crazy hair" (Elliot's words) that we had to braid to keep it under control.  Her name you ask...Sheryl Emerson.  Really...no offense to those folks with the name Sheryl, but it's so not a name that goes with Emerson and it's a weird name for a doll.  So instead, we're taking the lead from most of the Neves brothers (David excluded) and calling her by her fabulously unisex middle name.   On behalf of us all...welcome to the family Emerson!
